I am Exactly the Way I am Supposed To Be

This week, I learned from a couple of amazing individuals that we are all exactly the way we are supposed to be. Even though I haven't always agreed with my personal circumstances, I realize that I was meant to have Cerebral Palsy. From the time I was very young, my mother always said that we are never given more than we can handle, even if we feel as though we cannot handle anymore. I am sure that we have all heard many times that everything happens for a reason, but there have been many times where I have wished that I knew what that reason was. I find comfort in knowing that there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel no matter what I am going through. Hard times never last forever.

Although life has not always been easy, I honestly feel like I am the luckiest girl on the planet. I have been blessed with an amazing group of friends and family and, I have a great job with fantastic co- workers. I have encountered many people throughout my life who do not understand how I remain positive and happy, despite my challenges. The truth is, I have nothing to be angry about. That's not to say that I do not have days where I wish I could escape my reality because we all have days like that, but choosing to live life in anger is just a waste of energy. One of the most rewarding things about my life is that I have been to provide encouragement to people who are struggling by sharing my story and I wouldn't trade that for anything. If sharing my story has a positive impact on the lives of others, then each one of the challenges that I have gone through since my journey began is totally worth it.

For about a month now, I have been working at an after school care program in my town. Until yesterday, I had not been paying attention to how much my attitude has impacted them when one little girl said: " Just because Becca is in a wheelchair it doesn't mean she is different from anyone of us."

This was a very special moment for me because even though I don't view myself as different, there are many people who do not view me the same as everyone else. It is very rewarding when I get to see first hand how my outlook on life has positively imapacted those around me, but comments like that give me the motivation to keep moving forward no matter what challenges life throws at me because ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
