Okay. So, I bet you are looking at the title of this blog and thinking WHAT ON EARTH?! Let me elaborate. Earlier this week, I wheeled into work to find a very tired co-worker. I decided to cheer her up by cracking a few jokes, reminding her to be optimistic. A few minutes later, I found her laughing uncontrollably at her computer screen. When I asked her what was so funny, she turned her monitor to show me a picture of a unicorn with a caption underneath that read, powered by unicorn farts. “Becca, this is YOU”, she said. We both burst out laughing. She printed the picture off, cut it out and taped it to the back of my wheelchair.

In my last blog post, I wrote about how no matter what kind of adversity you are currently facing, things always have a way of turning themselves around. Life has proven this to me over and over again. Life is certainly not all unicorns and rainbows. Everyone has a different way of dealing with the struggles in their life. From a very young age, I have made self- deprecating jokes about my cerebral palsy along with my family and friends. I honestly do not know how we did this, but looking back, we somehow managed to find the comical and positive side to a multitude of different situations, even if that situation seemed like the worst thing in the world. Life has also thrown me challenges in which I felt like doing nothing, but crying, yelling and screaming, but I refuse to let them define the quality of my life. A lot of people may not understand how I can have a positive disposition, despite everything that I have gone through. My answer is that bitterness ultimately does not get us anywhere. It sucks us into a vortex that prevents us from doing what we want with our life.

Throughout my life, I have taken many medications for different reasons, but laughter is by far the best medication I have found!
