There is literally signs that Christmas is coming everywhere we look. There is an array of decorations on display, an abundance of beautiful lights being showcased on just about every house, and of course, snow. I have mixed feelings about the snow. Let’s just say, my co- workers and I are entertaining the thought of getting me a magic carpet, because power chairs and snow when put together are a royal pain in the butt! Sorry, mom!

In one of previous blog posts, I shared some of the reasons why I am thankful for each one of the struggles and triumphs I have encountered throughout my life. I just celebrated my twentieth birthday last week. When I was first diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at fourteen months of age, it was difficult to determine the trajectory of my life in the sense that no one knew what I would and would not be able to do. Having Cerebral Palsy has definitely played a role in shaping my personal perspective. One of things that I am forever thankful for is the love and empowerment that I have been gifted with, because some special people took the time to make sure I knew that I could do anything I wanted with my ninja abilities.

I want to leave you with a thought. `Perhaps, the best gift we can give anyone is a gift that doesn’t cost anything at all. Time. From personal experience, I can tell you that it not only impacts the receiver, but it will impact the giver as well. Take the time to listen with the intent to understand, rather than just to reply. Take the time to offer support and encouragement to a person who needs it. Take the time to put your needs aside and spend a portion of it doing something that will make someone else happy. Be giving of your heart!
