Don't Be So Hard on Yourself!

One of the reasons I decided to start writing a blog was because I knew that we are more alike than we even realize. Everyone’s journey is beautifully crafted and uniquely different. However, we can identify with the feelings that surface because of our experiences, even if we haven’t necessarily encountered the same situation. We have all felt happy. We have all felt sad. We have all felt frustrated and angry, and we have all felt drained. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I was recently interviewed for a podcast called: Rocky Mountain Heroes created by a young man named, Eric Lister. During our interview, we spent some time talking about the importance of letting people express not only their thoughts, but also their emotions.

I have thought a lot about how even though so many people appear to be happy on the outside, they are fighting a battle inside that no one knows anything about. So many of us fake how we feel. Why? Because we don’t want those around us to know how we truly feel. We want people to think that everything is okay. I think that being upset is something that is often shamed. It is okay not to be okay.

This week, I was reminded that we are all human. Sometimes life sucks. Sometimes, life throws you some unexpected curve balls. Not everything in life always works out the way we had initially hoped it would, but that’s okay because things always have a way of turning themselves around. We just have to wait, have patience and believe. In the meantime, remember to relax. Don’t be so hard on yourself!
