The Cerebral Palsy Community.

I have said many times before that I would not be the person I am today without the love, support and encouragement of those around me.
However, I often neglect to mention the individuals and their families who also live with Cerebral Palsy. A community. People who have commonalities. People who understand what it is like to be you. People who can identify with the struggles you face everyday, because they have been there, too. People who you can reach out to for advice on how you could possibly go about accomplishing certain goals. It is truly a powerful, yet peaceful feeling to know that no matter what, you are never alone.
Life is a journey, and it isn't always easy, but I can say with great confidence that being a part of ' The CP Community' is something that I am extremely proud of. My family and I were completely unaware of what we would learn as a result of not just the diagnosis, but living with it.
We have learned to appreciate the small things. We have learned to create joy by cracking self- deprecating jokes and laughing about it.
I think that being a part of this amazing and diverse community has taught me the true meaning of strength. It has allowed me to witness it firsthand, while watching others conquer their challenges. It has inspired to live my life to the fullest, to seek adventure, and to go after my goals, dreams and aspirations, no matter what obstactles might be standing in my way.

This is a picture of the Murray family hiking in Crowsnet Pass. One of their daughters, Claira who also has Cerebral Palsy completed this hike with her family by her side. They are truly amazing!

Me hiking in Waterton last weekend.
